Forestry Mulching

Land clearing used to be costly, difficult work that would tear up the ground and ruin the soil. To avoid these negative outcomes, use the forestry mulching services of Heidtman! Our team offers professional forestry mulching services that are less intrusive and impactful than traditional land clearing methods, all designed to clear only the vegetation you want out while protecting the soil. Forestry mulching uses low-impact equipment to get rid of undesirable vegetation and debris such as: trees, deadfall, brush, and stumps by grinding them into mulch. Forestry mulching clears land without disturbing the topsoil, burning vegetation, or leaving large piles of dead material. Our methods do not erode the soil, and actually prevent erosion from happening. It also reduces the ability of new unwanted growth to come through while adding nutrients to the topsoil. What you’re left with after forestry mulching is flat, even land, perfect for agricultural uses, vegetation management, invasive species control, construction preparation, and so much more.

Slag Aggregate Sales/Trucking

Slag is an aggregate produced as a by-product of the steel making process. It can be used as a base for parking lots, roadways, or lay down areas. It is an excellent base for asphalt paving. Our slag is screened to remove metals and foreign objects and segregated by sizes.

Road Building & Maintenance 

We specialize in Access Road Construction in densely wooded areas that involve clearing trees prior to cutting in the roadway. While many contractors shy away from installing roads that involve the removal of trees, we look forward to the task. We also have significant experience installing roads through easements that limit allowable work area. Our vertical integration with Heidtman Sand & Gravel, Co. allows us to offer gravel and a wide array of other aggregate products that others would normally have to outsource.

Under Brush Clearing

We can clear underbrush including bushes, saplings, tall grasses and weeds from a lot of land, while keeping the mature trees intact. This is a less intense version of land clearing, where brush is carefully removed rather than scraping the land down to the bare dirt.

Invasive Plant Management/Poisonous Plant Control 

We will help to identify invasive species on your property and develop an ongoing plan for the control, clearing and removal of these plants. Invasive species are generally non-native plants that decrease the diversity of the landscape by out-competing the native vegetation. Some of these species have the ability to kill the over story trees in a forest. Others may restrict new native trees.

Field, Pond, & Roadside Mowing Operations 

Every property has those hard-to-mow problem areas, the ones that make accessing with a lawn mower nearly impossible. When brush, grass, and other types of overgrowth become a major issue on your property, it’ll be almost impossible to use standard yard maintenance equipment to cut it down. To do the job right, you’ll need the right equipment.

Brush Hogging

Whether it’s an overgrown field you’re trying to tame or just a routine seasonal cutting, we have the equipment to complete the task. Our bush hogs can handle saplings up to 2" - 3", and cut back even the toughest weeds. This along with our pasture renovation procedures will yield turf ready for livestock grazing. 

Survey Line Clearing

A clear view is absolutely essential for proper surveying. If the site is obscured by brush or trees, you can’t have clean demarcations for property lines, fence line, or survey lines. By clearing the paths for survey lines ahead of time, you save yourself or the construction company time that would only be wasted.

Right of Way Clearing & Maintenance 

We clear Right of Ways for many necessities; this includes right of ways for electricity lines, transmission pipelines of anything, such as natural gas, crude oil, and water. Heidtman can Remove, Haul and Properly Dispose of any and all Green Waste. Green Waste meaning all vegetative cuttings, shrubs, stumps, logs, brush, tree trimmings, grass, and related materials which have been separated from other solid waste.

We may not experience many natural disasters in Michigan and Ohio, but high winds and winter storms can come through knocking down trees, leaving your yard a mess.
